Unhooked by Lisa Maxwell

Let me first start by saying, I wanted to be sort of vague with my review. As I thought about it, it would be very hard to. So I decided I would just write everything I thought and felt while reading.

***********HEADS UP, THERES SPOILERS AHEAD***************

Gwendolyn is pretty much stuck taking care of her crazy mother, and just moved into a new apartment with her. Her friend Olivia helps her best friend by offering to help her family move. The mother has a freak out in one of the rooms because of a mural on the wall, so the girls end up taking the room while the mom stays in the living room. They go for a run, and that’s when Gwen starts hearing and seeing weird things happening, and she rushes to get home. Theres a lantern in the room thats always remains on, but as Gwen goes to turn the light down, she ends up turning the light off and gets attacked by dark creatures. So begins our story, Peter Pan with a twist.

Rowan, the captain, is extremely transparent, with a dark past. He really does care for his lost boys. I think I may be a reaching a bit when I say that he reminded me of another devilishly handsome pirate from Once Upon A Time. So naturally I was drawn into the Captain’s charm. He does not in fact have a hook, which im glad, makes the story a bit different.

Olivia’s character made me angry, I didn’t like her at all. I understand Neverland does something to your memories, but still. She seemed into herself even before going to Neverland. We all know a girl like Olivia, and I bet she’s no ones favorite.

“Peter Pan” is such a great character, he’s such a trickster. I honestly thought that he was the bad character, almost (sorry to reference) like OUAT’s peter pan. He seems so interesting and caring at first. I favored the Captain though, so it made me a bit upset when Gwen was falling for Pan.

******************ENDING SPOLIER **********************

The overall book was really good, I couldn”t put it down, I think I finished it in 3 hours. I fell for the Captain, and was really hoping throughout the book he was who he said he is. I didn’t like the way the book ended though, I was hoping for Gwen to stay in Neverland. Rowan was not happy coming back, although I don’t really understand why. I know he was upset about his past, his crew and his ship, but why be upset by coming to a world where you can get a fresh start. A fresh start with the girl you care about.

It felt like it ended too fast, like maybe there should have been another book so that the reader can understand more of the history of the fey and know who Gwen’s dad really was. Like I said, its a really good book, I highly recommend it, if you haven’t already, go buy it and read it!

Thank you so much for reading!

Ashabreek Review

Ashabreek by Kathleen Farquhar is a story of betrayal, love and war.

First off, I would like to thank Kathleen for allowing me to read her book and give my input on it. Ashabreek at the beginning sort of confused me. It starts out with Genova being the main character, but then switches to her sister, Babette. With the title being Ashabreek, I thought he would be the main character. As the story went on, I really enjoyed it.

Without giving too much away, the story line is great, my favorite character is Ashabreek. There’s a certain charm about him. He’s the enemy, but I can’t help but be drawn to him. I wouldn’t mind switching to the dark side for him.

Babette was really annoying, I actually don’t like her at all. She’s too much to handle for me. Ray is an interesting character, I would definitely love to read more about him!

I was a little confused about how fast the characters seemed to move on in terms of relationships and love. I would’ve liked to read more about the kindling love.

As a whole, the book was really good, the story was interesting and there was definitely twists and turns throughout the story. Definitely keeps you guessing!

I rate this book a 4 out of 5! Buy this book!! Can’t wait for the next book!

Mist & Whispers, The Weavers Riddle Review!

So I like to start off by saying, this book was nothing what I was expecting. I absolutely love it! I read it in one day because I could just not put it down! Mist & Whispers by C.M. Lucas is captivating and puzzling. This book has twists and turns, and leaves you wanting more.

Anya and lorcan are my absolute favorite characters, along with King Theone. Michael is annoying and I honestly can’t stand him. (Although, I think Anya over-reacted a little bit)

I really want to put spoilers in this review, but I don’t think I should because you need to experience this book. So with that being said, go buy this book!

I give it 5/5 stars, and honestly can not wait for the next book!

Me and Earl and the dying girl Review

I first watched the movie, which inspired me to read the book. (I know, it should be the other way around.) I am so glad I decided to read the book! unfortunately, reading the book after the movie, made me feel a certain way because of the ending. Theyre very different, so be prepared for that.

I really tried not to compare the two, because rarely the movie follows the book word for word and scene for scene. So I decided to try to just focus on the book.

There is a ton of cussing, so if you don’t like cussing, it dont think this is the book for you. As for me, I thought it was hilarious, and i was laughing out loud on the bus. My favorite character is Earl, he’s so funny, and caring and they way he speaks truth is refreshing.

Greg is sort of relatable. He reminds me when I was in high school, i had people i talked to in different cliques but i normally stayed with one. Greg to me could’ve been more caring toward Rachel, although his inner monologue about he how he really felt made him more real. He didn’t care, but still in a way did.

I wish they would’ve put Rachel in a little more, maybe give readers more of a reason to be more sympathetic toward her illness. She was in the book, and I know it doesn’t revolve around her, but i think she could’ve still used some more time in the book.

So I said i wasnt going to compare the movie to the book, but i would just like to say, i liked the ending better in the movie, than the book. The book was so good, but that movie ending had my mom, my brother and i in tears.

I give this book a 4 out of 5, if you havent read it, read it! Watch the movie after you read the book, or just watch the movie and not read the book. Both were great and I recommend them!

The beginning of everything Review

First off, I know I say I love the books I’ve been reading, and well it’s true. Most, if not all of the books ive been reading have been really good. It is my honest opinion and I rate and review the books in my opinion.

So enough of that!

This book was nothing like I’ve read before. I can honestly say it wasn’t what I was expecting. It was actually so much better!

The beginning of everything by  Robyn Schneider made so many emotions build up inside me, it was so hard to put down.

Ezra and his friend Toby are my favorite characters. I honestly could’ve done without Pheboe and Luke, they were both so annoying to me, and so was Charlotte. (So funny because that’s my name) Cassidy seems like a girl I wish I could’ve been. Adventurous, cool, and mysterious!

The book was well written, and I gotta say, I felt like I was back in high school.

I won’t post any spoilers, but be prepared for an emotional roller coaster with this book. I felt like I couldn’t function for the rest of the night after finishing it.

So if you haven’t already, buy this book. I recommend this to everyone!! I give it a 4.5 out of 5!

The Scorch Trials Review

So this is the second book of The Maze Runner Series by James Dashner. Now that Thomas and the Gladers are out of the maze, they find themselves in a new challenge. With high temperatures and cranks who are covered in wounds that have gone mad from disease, the Gladers have to find a way to get to the safe haven. With only two weeks, they must go against WICKED’s variables and try to defeat the odds against them and arrive at the safe haven.

I absolutely love the series so far, and this book will keep you on your toes. Just when you think things are starting to work out for Thomas, something else happens. Thomas is by far my favorite character, he is leader material, but still lets other take the lead.

The new characters who were introduced, I didn’t care much for them. The new challenges they face are far more intense and there was several points that I actually jumped! It is such a great book, and I highly recommend these books.

I want to start actually rating, so ill give this book: 4.5 out of 5 stars ❤

The Guide Review!

I would love to thank Justin Chandler for allowing me to read and review this amazing book!

From the start, I could not put it down.

The characters were very developed and I think I feel really strongly towards Garron. He’s captivating and mysterious and really cares about Nick. Nick reminds me of when I was in high school, so he was extremely relatable to me. He didn’t care much for school, or about staying out of trouble, and that was me all the way.

The idea of having a guide through your first year of high school would’ve been amazing. Someone to help you realize the potential you really have and how important it is to know yourself.

Garron is definately my favorite character from the start.

Mr. Chandler definitely has a way with words, there was never a dull moment. (At least for me) The whole book I was sitting at the edge of my seat, so eager to find out what happens next.

I recommend this book, it’s a really good read!
